A little gem in the East Bay! It's called the Lawrence Hall of Science and right now they have an exhibit called Dino's Return. For my little guy who turned 6 this week it was a dream come true. They had all kinds of robotic dinosaurs and dino activities for the kids to do. Ever since Tyler was little he has been into dinos. For his birthday, my husband took him to the Wooden Horse toy store (which is another gem in the bay) and he picked out a Velociraptor and a Mammoth. So with Velociraptor in hand, he walked round in awe looking at all the dinos. He wanted me to take all kinds of pictures so I am hoping I can put together a mini album just for him. For the grownups, you'll appreciate the breath taking view of San Francisco and the small, mangeable size of the museum. I would recommend going with another grown up buddy and getting reverse directions because it is tricky to find and we got lost when we left and ended up driving into Oakland trying to find a freeway. I was glad my friend Julie was able to play hooky from work so she helped me navigate. I owuld highly recommend this feild trip and I think the exhibit is there until May.

This is what happens when I am stuck at home today with my older son Timmy who has a cold ....I post weird pictures of my husband, Matt. This is what greeted me when I came home from work on Valentine's day. "Are you ready for our date?" he says - are you kidding!!! I have to admit this outfit is pretty creative - how did he find my pink belt and what is even worse is that it fits him! The shirt is a hideous one he found at an estate sale. It is a designer, Italian shirt but all I hear is blah, blah, blah because that thing is ugly and I think he likes to torture me by threatening to wear it in public. I think his parents put him up to this or encouraged him at least (they were over offering to babysit while we went out) so I hope this blog entry makes the Routon family route so you all can give him a hard time at the next family gathering!

An oldie but a goodie!

I have had this sweater half finished and in a bag for the last two years! I finally was motivated to finish it and had the neck, sleeves and rest of body to do. Unfortunately my son had grown in the last two years and I ran out of yarn (which of course had been discontinued and I could not find anymore). So I added the green color when I ran out of the other (his pick). I hope it looks "European" and not "my son's arms are too long and I had to add on some of this yarn". The pattern is a favorite of mine from Pure and Simple - a neck down raglan sweater. It is fun to make and a cinch to finish since it is done top down in one piece.
