Back to crafts!

Here are the ruffled wrist warmers I finished a couple of weeks ago. I saw these displayed at my LYS and they had a free pattern! I used the koigu sock yarn and love all the different colors in it. Unfortunately it is a gift so I won't have them long. Eventually I will make some for myself! It is a great way to use up random skeins of collected sock yarn) it only takes one skein to make two gloves). I have the pattern if you would like to try - email me!!

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone!! So with everyone back at school and work, I finally get to use the computer! We had a great Thanksgiving. Better than most. I think because this is the first time in forever I did not have to work the day before. It was just more relaxed and Matt and I just did our thing with cooking the food and getting the tables ready. I was proud of the table this year because I got almost all new stuff at bargain prices. Everyone lived the turkeys and all girls in our family (including the grown up ones) had fun making the paper beaded necklaces and bracelets.

On Friday I actually got to go cropping at Suzy's with Suzy herself, Erin and her friend Nicole. It was fun except for the fact I didn't really have the productive night I thought I was going to have. I sold out of all my pillow kits so Saturday and Sunday were spent getting those ready and the other crafts I want to sell at an upcoming boutique I am doing THIS Saturday.

On Sunday, the boys and I went to the Festival of Lights parade in Los Altos (Matt had a drumming gig to do). It was fun and so reminiscent of a small town parade. I brought hot chocolate (Timmy's request) and we enjoyed that before the parade started.

What a way to start off the Christmas season!

Thanksgiving crafts!

So here are my Thanksgiving crafts. Aren't they cute! The turkey idea was taken from Martha Stewart.com but I scrap-a-fied it and made some changes to her directions. I made a total of 4 (one for each family that is coming to our house that they can take home with them).

I also am going to be making these as an actvity with probably my neices and my other female inlaws. This idea I got from Stephanie's blog (she always has good ideas) and it is also from Martha Stewart. I am not using her kit but just cutting up some of my scraps of paper (I have a bag full).

So I told you I am getting crafty!!

The craft bug has bit me!! I don't know what it is this year, but the craft bug has bit me hard! I actually bought my first sewing machine. It's a little one but it does all the basic stuff.

So now I just need sewing ideas!

I also got this book which has some GREAT ideas in it.

I'm knitting, scrapping and paper crafting! I am on a roll this year! Soon I'll post some Thanksgiving crafts I am making and the fingerless gloves I just finished!

I have my own Borrower!

Did you ever read that children's series - The Borrowers? Well, I did and this week I found out I have my own borrower.

I finally decided to tackle my boys room. It was a mess and normally all their toys are sorted into different boxes or drawers. Well, time had passed and they got more and more mixed up and it got to the point that no one cared where the toys went.

So I was motivated with Thanksgiving coming and people coming to our house to tackle this mess.

Ugh!! It took me hours with the boys "help" (aka helping for 5 minutes and then playing) I almost have it all sorted an dput away.

But I made some discoveries! Tyler has this little quirk about him - he collects things. It can be random things like keys, wrappers, bottle caps, rocks etc. But you'll find his little piles of collections all over the house. So quess what I found mixed in with all his toys - a pair of MY sunglasses that I have been looking all over for, toenail clippers (?), medicine dispenser, digital thermometer, a box of thumbtacks and other random items.

So he is my little Borrower!!

So this was a fun weekend but I have no pictures to show for it yet. On Saturday was my Photo Fun Pillow class at Picture Me Perfect. It went great but I got nervous when I found out Suzy (the owner and my DT 'Boss") was taking it. But we all had fun and I got to tease her about being a difficult student. What makes me the happiest? When people are excited to create the projects I've designed and have fun while doing it. I LOVE it. I love hearing their ohhs and ahhs when it all comes together. I love it when they walk out the door happy that they came. It's better than getting paid (but I like that part too).

Then on Sunday, I headed back up to the store for our GG meeting and gift exchange. My head is still spinning from all the dates and class ideas that were discussed. WOW - that place is overflowing with inspiration. So I'll have to come up with some good ideas for my upcoming classes and demos. Then we exchanged our secret Santa gifts and I LOVE the Love Elsie Christmas stuff I got from Sylvia!

So I came home inspired again and ready to scrap and knit!!

Oh yeah I knitted my first fingerless glove that has a ruffle at the end and I used Koigu yarn (which I love). I'll have to post a pic of that too!

Oh and another thing - on Friday I had my last interclub tennis match until Feb. Even though me and my partner lost I felt like we won. Leticia was so good at strategies that it made it really fun and helped us to dominate in the 2nd match but we lost in the 10 point tie breaker.

So since my last post things have been a whirlwind. I took a quick trip to visit my grandmother who had fallen and was in the hospital and I helped transition her back home with nursing care. This has not been a smooth thing at all and I hate to see my cell phone bill! But I wanted to share some October pictures before it gets too late into November. I love October. I don't know why but I love the weather this time of year (not the earthquakes though!) and the fall colors plus all the Harvest and Halloween activities!!

We celebrated my nephew Luke's 6th birthday! Look at his crazy cousin in the background!Timmy finished up his first season of football. He actually got to play both some offense and defense and I think he got the hang of pushing people down!Halloween is always an all day event! Here the boys are in their costumes. Tyler is a back ninja in case the smile fooled you. We got to go trick or treating twice in one day with their cousins!
